The Dallas Cowboys were off Thursday, in Oxnard but will get back to practice tomorrow.
This, the first off day the Cowboys have had since opening camp last week, and it might be coming at a good time, as things got a little testy yesterday at practice.
Wide Receiver Terrance Williams and defensive back, Morris Claiborne, got into a shoving match during the team period on Sunday afternoon. But Coach Jason garret knows that’s just what happens when you have two competitive guys going head-to-head.
"Well we're gonna create competitive situations in practice and those are 2 competitive guys, and they're very prideful about what they're doing out there, and trying to be the best they can be,” Garret said. “When you have those competitive situations sometimes you have some flair-ups. There's nothing really wrong with that, I think they understand where the line is, and they understand taking that approach is good for everyone."
Morris Claiborne spoke to the media after practice and acknowledged the dust-up was just one of those things that happen in the heat of battle.
"It got a little bit competitive,” he said. “You know, he didn't like the way I was touching him, I don't know what else I was supposed to have done, maybe let him run his route but, I mean, it gets that way sometimes, we still teammates, we still buddies."
The cowboys will return to the practice field tomorrow morning with a walk-through.
