The Estacado Matadors have had an up and down, non-district slate, but Coach Wagner's team is off to a 2-0 start in 2-3A play and they were trying to move to 3-0 visiting the Cooper Pirates.

Coach Wagner's crew ranked 14th in the state in 3A.

Matadors up 9-2 but Cooper battling back with a Brent Carlton triple to cut the deficit to just four.

But then came Estacados Jesse Johns with a three ball of his own to put that Mats right back where they were, up 12-5.

Still in the first, Keenan Lewis for Cooper came away with the steal and would do the rest himself, laying in the easy two as Cooper tried hanging in this one 12-7.

Later off the inbounds, Kenaris Jackson gets the lead back to seven as the Mats take care of their business in 2-3A, going on to win by 20 points, 81-61.
