Frenship Clinches State 7-on-7 Berth

Frenship survived a day packed full of football to Advance to the State 7-on-7 Tournament in College Station, thanks to a 39-24 win over Coronado.

Christian Hayes threw a touchdown to Brandon Sherlin to give the Mustangs the lead over the Cooper Pirates. On the conversion Cooper's Ricky intercepted Hays, but Coronado this Coronado won over Cooper.

at the other end of the field it was Abilene high and Frenship. Coach Warren’s Eagles looked good early with a touchdown pass. Back came the Tigers, though, as Todd Lloyd made a nice grab, and then finished off the drive with a touchdown from Parker Bingham.

In the next wave it's Monterey took on Abilene Cooper, the Cougars rolling along but a nice play here as Brice Weighill found Wes Hutchinson, coach Wayne Hutchinson’s son, and the Plainsmen were in business. They would eventually get on the board but dropped the game to Abilene Cooper.

In the afternoon Abilene High and Estacado squared off. The Eagles soared out to the early lead with a deep touchdown pass. The ‘Mats came right back with this Jalen Tennison to Kenaris Jackson touchdown Pass, but Abilene High would win the game.

Coronado and Lubbock High in the afternoon, Christian Hayes got a breather, and JT Morris filled in nicely with a touchdown pass. but Lubbock High Bounced back as James Garcia found Devonte Greathouse for the touchdown, but Coronado advanced to the Semi-finals where they take on the Frenship Tigers.

The Mustangs started out on fire here as Christian Hayes found Caleb Washington who made a great catch, for the touchdown to make it 6-0 Coronado.

Later, more Mustangs, as JT Morris throwing and Brandon Sherlin catching and Coronado was in business.

A few plays later Morris completed the drive with a touchdown pass and Coronado takes the early 12-0 lead.

Then came the Tigers as Parker Bingham found Brodrick Harrell to get the Tigers on the board they trailed 12-8.

Later in the game. more Tigers, as Bingam threw a strike to Jared Mannon to give the Tigers the lead at 14-12, a lead they would never give back as they defeat Coronado 39-24 to earn a birth in the State tournament along with San Angelo Central.
