LUBBOCK, TX -- A Lubbock County grand jury chose not to pursue a felony charge against Nigel Bethel II, the Texas Tech football player accused of punching Lady Raider basketball player Amber Battle in the face.  The incident was in late June at the Student Rec Center.

The two were playing a game of pickup basketball when according to eyewitness account Battle pushed Bethel.  The accounts say Bethel then punched her.  Bethel was removed from the football team and Battle also faced disciplinary action.  She apologized in early July.
