A lot of eyes will be on Kenny Williams heading into Texas Tech training camp in about three days as he makes the switch from running back to linebacker.

Williams was the teams leading rusher from a year ago with 497 yards on 125 carries with eight touchdowns, but he also tallied 14 tackles on special teams. In the spring he started bugging the coaches about playing some defense and as we get set to open camp you will see number 43 all over the field this season.

"Mike Smith would always come up to me and say I would be a great linebacker in this defense," said Williams. "One day it just came down to it, I told kliff I'd like to be on defense and he gave me the opportunity so I took it and ran with it."

"You know, I've played on special teams and would run down on kickoffs and make some tackles, I mean it's all about playing football."
