The Lady Raider soccer team is also in the midst of its first week of practice and just like any start to the season, there are questions to be answered.
One position that has been occupied for the last couple of seasons is now up for grabs as goalkeeper Victoria Esson graduated. The new girls have big shoes to fill as she had 15 shutouts in 23 starts last season.
Three keepers on the roster will have a chance to battle for the spot with newcomers Carrisa Christensen and Marissa Torres from Tascosa, trying to surpass Lauren Watson who played in two matches a year ago.
"It's certainly her position to lose and I, the freshmen know that. What I like about Lauren is I don't think she wants to leave anything to chance," Lady Raider Head Soccer Coach, Tom Stone said. "Watching her today she's doing to those freshmen a little bit of what Vic did to her like 'This is how to train.' Lauren has a smile on her face knowing she has a one step lead and we'll see how the freshmen do in terms of closing that gap."
