The Lubbock High Westerners Rode a hot start and the arm of Shane Browning to a 6-0, series opening win against the Randall Raiders.
The Westerners plated three runs in the first, and three more in the second to pin Shane Browning to a 6-0 lead, until the 3rd when a throwing error allowed the first Raider run to come across and kept the inning alive long enough for Jake Pederson to drive in Brian Canida, and cut into the Westerner lead to make it 6-2. But Browning would bounce back and get the strikeout to end the inning and limit the damage to just two runs.
The Raiders would strike again in the 4th, to cut the Lubbock High lead to 6-3, but that would be it as Browning bore down and gave the Westerners a 1-0 lead in the series heading to Randall tomorrow for game two at 5pm. Game three will be back at Westerner field on Saturday if necessary.
