Coach Pearson and company were looking for their first win on Thursday night against the Hostile Herd, from Plainview.

In the 1st quarter, Monterey forced a turnover in the rezone and took advantage, in the form on Camden Arnold going up top to Blake Walden for the first down.

Then a few plays later, Vincent Johnson gets the handoff and takes this one in from 20 yards out for the first score of the ballgame 7-0 Monterey.

In the first play of the 2nd quarter Hereford's Dane Lowery went deep to Payton Gonzales, who would take it in for the score to knot the game at 7.

Monterey would respond though, as Arnold took the zone read, fooling everyone, and outran the defenders to the end zone to take back the lead at 15-7.

Hereford would make it close, but in the end, The Plainsmen got their first win of the season with a 36-34 win over Hereford.
