Another team trying to punch their ticket to the state tournament was the Monterey Plainsmen as they tried to even the series with Aledo tonight in Abilene.

In the 2nd inning Hunter Spaeth sat down the Bearcats in the order, capping it off with a strikeout of Garret Uhl to remain scoreless.

In the 3rd, Monterey got on the board first with Blake Walden hitting a grounder to third with the bases load, Mike Mercado made it home giving the Plainsmen a 2-0 lead.

Then Branson Hall added to that lead a bit later with a shot down the first base line. That would score two and Monterey took a 4-0.

The Bearcats would climb back into it and take to lead on their way to claiming the victory.

A great run by Monterey but their season comes to an end Aledo completes the sweep with a 5-4 win.
