Last night out at Lowerey Field at Plains Capital Park, the Monterey Plainsmen looked for their first win of the season, but had a tough test with the Caprock Longhorns in town.

These two teams palyed an absolute thriller last year.

No score in the 2nd, Monterey would get the ball back and eat up over nine minutes. They capped off the drive with an Arnold touchdown pass making it 7-0 Monterey in the 2nd quarter.

That would open the flood gates, as Victor Rodriguez hit TJ Ledbetter and he made a couple moves and was gone. The touchdown tied the game at 7.

But back came the Plainsmen, Trevon Benton went out with a broken collar bone so Vincint Johnson picked up right where he left off. The touchdown put Monterey back on top 14-0.

Seconds later, Rodriguez to Austin Cruz-Riley, on the tunnel screen, and you could say goodnight to this one because we went back to even at 14 all.
Monterey missed an extra point late as they lost a heart-breaker last night, 35-34.
