The Monterey Plainsmen battled their way past the Amarillo High Sandies last weekend walking off in game two with a sweep.

The team, which had breezed through the first two rounds, was in a real fight and had to battle from behind in both games but found ways to win. The Plainsmen only lost two games during all of district play but they were series opener’s to Frenship and Lubbock High. This team is no stranger to having to battle from behind and win close ballgames.

Monterey will get under way with Cleburne tomorrow evening at 8 p.m. down in Abilene from Hunter Field on the campus of Hardin Simmons University.
