Texas Tech fall camp carried on today and it was the first day in full pads for the Red Raiders.

After the initial days of camp the guys are ready to go all out in practice and certainly putting on the pads will allow that, as well as help the team prepare for the teams first scrimmage later this week.

"Shoulder pads and helmets that's what we play with anyway,” said Devin Lauderdale, Texas Tech receiver, “But I'm sure there is going to be a lot of hitting today but we are ready for it.  It's going to be amped up.”

“Basically it's been 7-on-7 with the full team but now we got a little contact.  It should be a good practice today,” said J.J. Gaines, Texas Tech defensive back.

“When they put pads on that's when you really evaluate guys,” said Kevin Curtis, Texas Tech corners coach. “In helmets it is hard to evaluate guys (on) how physical they are but with pads you truly get a sense of who guys are."
