The Texas Tech Football team held their 2nd scrimmage of fall camp over the weekend, hoping to nail down some starting spots.

After Practice on Monday Coach Kingsbury felt they had most of them locked up on the offensive side of the ball.

"Yeah after this last scrimmage, that was pretty much where we figured out who is going to play for us, we know who are starters were and who our back-ups were,” Kingsbury said. “We've got it pretty well sorted out, guys are still pushing for a few spots, but a lot of familiar faces are back from last year and still doing their thing.

The Defense, on the other hand is still searching after the 2nd scrimmage, mainly along the defensive front and the corner opposite of Justis Nelson.

“Its just a work in progress, Wallerstedt,” said. “A lot of moving parts.  The fronts still not settled where we could say who's starting.  Then at cornerback we still got some good competition.  Tevin (Madison) continues to have a good camp.  Jashawn Johnson's having a good camp so those guys are battling it out.  Really at a lot of spots, will-linebacker, We are trying to get that settled.  Really just trying to get depth with the twos, threes and fours.  We'll have it settled in by Thursday hopefully."

Overall though in the scrimmage, coach Kingsbury was happy with what he saw.

“Better than the first one, and that's what we're looking for, improvement on both sides of the ball. I thought we were cleaner, as far as penalties and turnovers go. More plays and faster tempo, so, we improved, we're not in game shape yet, but we'll push through this week and next, and be ready to go for the first one."

Tech has six practices remaining in fall camp, before opening the season on August 30th against Central Arkansas.
