The Coronado Mustangs came into tonight’s game with a 12-2 district mark, a game and a half behind Tascosa for the district lead. But a home win over Tascosa could get them one step closer to a share of the district title. Tascosa won their last match-up in Amarillo last week.

In the first quarter, Trey Culver found Devonte Hutchens in the opposite corner for the pull-up jumper and the early one-point lead, 2-1.

Then off of a miss, Quinn Taylor tipped in the putback to put the Rebels on top 5-4.

Tascosa entered into a full court press after that and Ja'Quan Smith got the steal and the layup, 9-7 Rebels.

But the Mustangs answered back, Culver dished to a cutting Duncan Douglas for the bucket and the foul to tie it up at nine points. He made the free throw to make it 10-9 Mustangs after one.

The score would see-saw throughout regulation but the Rebels would come away with the win, 43-39.
