Tech baseball Ranked in three national Polls

LUBBOCK, Texas – Following a 5-0 record last week, the Texas Tech baseball team has received national rankings from three major polls while the USA Today Coaches’ (23rd), National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (25th) and Collegiate Baseball (26th) released national rankings Monday.


Texas Tech has been nationally ranked four consecutive weeks for the first time since 2005.


The Red Raiders defeated New Mexico (9-3) last Tuesday and swept New Mexico State in a four-game series at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park (5-3, 15-2, 8-7, 14-4) to run their current winning streak to six games.


Tech has been ranked four straight weeks in the NCBWA poll while this week moving up to its highest spot in the poll this season at No. 25.


The Red Raiders are ranked in the USA Today Coaches’ poll for the first time since 2005 with a 23rd national ranking. Tech was receiving votes in the Coaches’ poll last week.


Tech is back in the Collegiate Baseball poll at No. 26 after dropping out of the poll last week. Tech has been ranked 30th (Feb. 17) and 26th (Feb. 24) in the Collegiate Baseball poll this season.


The Red Raiders will be back in action on Tuesday, Mar. 11 hosting Abilene Christian at 6:30 p.m. at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
