The Red Raiders won a triple-overtime thriller in Fort Worth in their first ever Big 12 Meeting with The TCU Horned Frogs and had the Thursday Night stage all to themselves for Coach Kingsbury's first conference game as head coach.
It didn't take long before the Red Raiders had the Jones rocking and ready to retake its place as one of the toughest night games in the country.
After the Offense struck quickly it was the defenses that took over this Football game. Baker Mayfield struggled with two first half interceptions but the defense answered the call forcing five first-half punts and never let TCU beyond the Texas Tech 40 yard-line.
TCU finally got on the board with a Jaden Oberkrom field goal in the 3rd quarter but Tech still led by a touchdown after an Oberkrom miss to start the 4th quarter.
TCU drew even though minutes later with a 17 yard BJ Catalon Touchdown with 6:30 to go in the game.
On the start of the next drive Baker Mayfield went down with an injury forcing fellow freshman Davis Webb into the lineup.
Webb completed 2 of his first 3 passes and it looked, for a minute, like that would be all it would take.
But after a couple of penalties the Red Raiders faced 3rd and Goal from the 19 yardline.
Webb completed 4 of his five passes on the drive including the game-winner, as the Red Raiders gave Kliff Kingsbury his first conference win as a head Coach.
Game number 2 on your countdown a 20-10 win over The TCU Horned Frogs.
