Red Raiders Make Season Debut in Top-5

LUBBOCK, Texas (Texas Tech Release)   – The Red Raider track and field team officially made its season debut in the top-5 of the national rankings Tuesday as announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Red Raiders appeared at No. 5 and the Lady Raiders at No. 21, both making leaps after a highly competitive and successful weekend of competition.
The Red Raiders are making their first appearance in the top-5 since the 2012 season, and for the sixth time in program history. Meanwhile, both the Texas Tech men’s and women’s team appear in the Top-25 for the sixth-straight week.
Texas Tech now boasts the highest ranked men’s team in the Big 12 as the Red Raiders jumped four spots from a No. 9 ranking last week. A total of three men’s Big 12 teams in Tech, Oklahoma State and Texas appear inside the Top 8 this week.
Texas Tech now looks ahead to hosting the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 16-18 at the Fuller Track and Field Complex in Lubbock.
