LUBBOCK – The Red Raider track and field team made its season debut inside the top-10 of the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association computer rankings released today.
The squad earned a No. 10 ranking, up four spots from No. 14 in the preseason poll, on the heels of a successful showing at its outdoor home opener Saturday. The Lady Raiders, meanwhile, earned a top-20 ranking appearing at No. 19.
Texas Tech boasts the highest-ranked Big 12 men’s team in the nation, and is one four Big 12 programs with both its men’s and women’s teams inside the top-20.
The No. 10 ranking marks the Red Raiders’ first appearance inside the top-10 since the 2012 season.
The No. 10 Red Raiders and No. 19 Lady Raiders continue their 2014 outdoor season Saturday at the inaugural Wes Kittley Invitational at Abilene Christian. Head coach Wes Kittley, along with assistant coaches Jon Murray, Cliff Felkins and academic advisor Suzanne Dickenson will be recognized at a reception Friday night prior to the meet.
