Two Red Raiders Earn Academic Honors

LUBBOCK, Texas(Texas Tech Press Release) – Texas Tech Francisco Zambon and Carlos DiLaura have been named to the Academic All-Big 12 teams, announced league officials.
Zambon is one of 17 players selected the Academic All-Big 12 first team, while DiLaura is one of six honorees on the league’s second team. The two selections bring head coach Tim Siegel’s selection total to 52 since beginning play in the league in 1997.
It is Zambon’s second time on the first team, after being selected last season. Zambon is 13-15 this season in singles, where he played primarily at No. 3, and 8-7 in doubles.
DiLaura, a sophomore from Austin, has gone 4-3 in singles this season and 8-7 in doubles. It is his first academic honor.
No. 41 Texas Tech will begin play in the 2014 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships next Saturday in College Station, when the Red Raiders face No. 17 California at 9 a.m. CT at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
