LUBBOCK, TX - Texas Tech opened Big 12 play with an ugly 98-57 loss to Oklahoma State Thursday night at United Supermarkets Arena.
"An embarrassing loss for us," head coach Candi Whitaker said. "Oklahoma State is really good and we don't wanna take anything away from them but in the first half we competed, in the first quarter particularly. Just did not respond to things, turned the ball over too much, didn't have enough fight in us on the glass, didn't get on the floor for loose balls and Oklahoma State wanted it more."
Texas Tech (6-6, 0-1) jumped out to a 26-21 lead in the second quarter but the Cowgirls ended the half on a 15-2 run to lead 36-28 at the break.
Oklahoma State scored 31 points in the third quarter and used a 19-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Junior Recee' Caldwell led the Lady Raiders with 20 points, five assistans and two rebounds.
In her first game as a Lady Raider, McKenzie Calvert scored seven points and racked up two rebounds and an assist against the Cowgirls.
Kaylee Jensen led the 24th-ranked Cowgirls with 26 points.
