If, indeed, Coach Seth Parr gets the Coronado job, Mustang fans can only hope he has the impact on his school that Jason Strunk has had on Lubbock High.

Strunk, as head football coach and athletic coordinator, has helped turn the attitude around at Lubbock High in all of their sports.

He got it started with his football team taking them to the playoffs for the first time since in 37 years, in 2012 and Monday night, he was honored by the United States Marines with the Semper Fi Coach Award. The award recognizes the high school coach that best exemplifies the Marine Corps motto, ‘Semper Fidelis’ and models the Marine Corps leadership values of honor, courage and commitment.
