The Lubbock Cooper Pirates finally got off the schnide last week, by getting a one-point win over the Snyder Tigers; but they had another tough game this evening against a team they beat last season at Lowrey field, and it was this weeks Ray-Lee Equipment Game of the Week.

The Westerners looked for their first win of the year against the Pirates.

A shootout tonight at Pirates stadium between Lubbock Cooper and Lubbock High.

Jason Strunk's Westerners were down 10-7 in the 1st until Corey Schonavec scored on the keeper 50-yards untouched. Lubbock High jumped in front 14-10.

Next Pirate possession, next Pirate play, Dakota Gruben was in trouble in the backfield. He changed directions twice, avoided three defenders and he was off to the races for a 72-yard touchdown; that put Pirates back in front 17-14.

Still in the 1st, Pirates drove again, the reverse ended up in the hands of John Lange, Lubbock High's Steven Duke forced the fumble but it bounced right into the hands of Colton Ehlers, and he scored; 24-14, Cooper.

Cooper goes on to win 38-21.
