The Sudan Hornets were taking on Wellington, the top team in the state, up in Canyon this afternoon.

First drive of the game when Wellington’s running back Terry Gilbreath ran the Wildcat to perfection weaving outside and getting a couple of blocks to spring him loose so he could do the rest taking it 25 yards to the house. The 2-point-conversion was good for a Skyrockets 8-0 lead.

On the ensuing possession, Sudan was driving when quarterback Stephen Schovasja with the keeper fooled the defense and took it 34 yards to put the Hornets in business.

Later on, the drive Schovasja rolled right to buy him some time and throwing across his body as he squeezed it into a Reece Harper touchdown, Sudan was hanging with the No. 1 team as the score read 8-7.

Then, back came Wellington on 3rd and long, Sudan tried to get off the field but Klark Ashmore was on the money to Smilie Granadoz who would rumble down inside the two. That sets up Terry Gilbreath off the left side as he drove his way in for the score to make it 16-7 at that point.

Wellington took a 30-15 lead at halftime. Sudan puts up a good fight but in the end it’s Wellington who gets the 58-36 win.
