LUBBOCK, TX -- Firefighters from Abernathy and New Deal put out a house fire Tuesday about noon in the 600 block 14th Street in Abernathy.

Video shows the back part of the house in flames.

“The structure is a total loss,” said City Manager Mike Cypert. “Some of the property inside might be salvaged.”

Cypert said the husband and wife who owned the home do have insurance. The Red Cross was called out to help them temporarily with a place to stay.

EMS also responded but Cypert said there were no injuries. He also said the fire seems to have started in the attic. Cypert did not know if the state fire marshal would be called to further pinpoint the cause of the fire.
