Cindy Miller, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lubbock, said local support is needed to keep the program going.
"Our fund raising and our local support is really what pushes us to be able to reach out to more children in the community, to provide more role models and mentors, and it's vital."
Miller, said one of Big Brothers Big Sisters biggest fundraising events is Vino Festivo, a wine tasting event.
"Wine from Caprock, wine from McPhersons..." "We have heavy hors d'oeuvres, we actually have on of our featured desserts from the Cakery."
This years Vino Festivo has a roaring 20's casino theme and your 40 dollar entry fee covers the food, wine, and your first round of chips.
"Everyone will get a certain amount of chips so they can go ahead and start playing and of course as the evening progresses if you want to purchases more you can always."
Miller said there is also a live and silent auction.
"This year we have an autographed guitar by Taylor Swift that will be in our live auction. We have a lot of really neat items that local businesses and artists have donated to us so it's going to be exciting."
Big Brothers Big Sisters received money from the United Way but there is always a need for more money to help more children.
"But we need more support. There's more kids in the community that we could be reaching out to if we only had more money so we're really looking forward to a successful event and hopefully help us reach our goal of serving 500 children this year."
