LUBBOCK, TX -- Lubbock will soon spend $1.1 million for 36 new Chevy Tahoe Defenders - 35 of which are for Lubbock Police, and one is for Lubbock Airport Police. The Tahoes are sport utility vehicles and will replace Ford Crown Victoria sedans as police patrol vehicles. On Thursday the Lubbock City Council will be asked to accept a bid for the new Tahoes from Holiday Chevrolet of Whitesboro, Texas.
Council will also be asked to spend $288,870 with Scoggin-Dickey Chevrolet Buick for 10 light-duty pickup trucks. And, the Council will be asked to spend $488,749.50 with Scoggin-Dickey for 18 Chevy Caprice sedans to be used by plain-clothes police officers.
