4th On Broadway Parade

LUBBOCK, TX (PRESS RELEASE) – Broadway Festivals, Inc. announces plans for the 24th Annual 4th on Broadway Celebration, which will take place July 3 and July 4. This two-day event is the largest free festival in the state of Texas and is available to all ages. The theme for this year’s festival is “Stand Up For America.”

Kicking off the festival will be a Street Dance – Amigos La Raza on The Plaza – July 3 at 7:30 p.m. Stefani featuring Zavala and Headliner, Little Joe and La Familia. They will be performing on the corner of Broadway and Texas Ave., adjacent to the Lubbock County Courthouse. Tickets will be available for purchase on June 2nd for $10 in advance at all Select-a-Seat locations or $15 at the gate.

New for 2014 are the Yankee Doodle Dash and Sparkler Sprint fun runs. Go back in time to the Spirit of 1776 with the Yankee Doodle Dash (5K or 1 mile course) that will take you along the parade route of the historic brick-lined streets of Broadway. The Sparkler Sprint (free for kids, age 6 - 12) will have the children kicking up some fireworks between the crowds as they line the streets before the parade.

The Wells Fargo Street Fair will begin at 8 a.m., and lasts until 4 p.m. There will be seven music stages for your entertainment pleasure at the street fair beginning at 10:45 a.m. The 4th on Broadway Parade will begin at Ave. Q and Broadway at 9 a.m., and travel down to University Ave. with 100 entries included in the procession. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Ag Junction Kids Corral will be open with Ag related activities, games, a farmer’s market, and much more.

At 4:30 p.m., the Family Picnic in the Park will begin at Mackenzie Park. The food court and kids area will be open at 4:30 p.m. There will be an evening concert beginning at 8:30 p.m., featuring vocal performances from students of Terri Caldwell Music, and the Youth Orchestra of Lubbock. Parking is available at the South Plains Fairgrounds for $5.

To end the festival, Gandy’s will provide a fireworks extravaganza at dark in Mackenzie Park.

Also occurring on the evening of July 4, the second Street Dance of this holiday festival will feature the Randy Rogers Band. Gates will open at 7:00 p.m. This event will again be at Broadway and Texas Avenue. Tickets will be available for purchase on June 2nd for $15 in advance at all Select-a-Seat locations or $20 at the gate.
