LUBBOCK, TX (PRESS RELEASE) - TWO Lubbock political action groups are co-hosting a forum for the 2014 Lubbock City Council candidates. Lubbock Liberty and the Constitutionalist Society will host the forum on Monday, April 21st from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The event will take place in the Garden Room at St. John’s United Methodist Church, located at 1501 University Avenue.

Candidates from City Council Districts 1, 3, and 5 will be present. All but two candidates, Jeff Griffith (District 3) and Karen Gibson (District 5), have confirmed their participation in Monday’s event.

One of the event organizers, Mallory Miller said that the purpose of the forum is “to furnish an opportunity for voter education in a community event.” The forum will allow candidates the opportunity to speak directly to Lubbock voters about issues affecting their city, and more importantly, to allow voters to hear from and ask questions of the candidates.

Lubbock voters will also be invited to submit written questions during the forum to be asked of the candidates.

Doors will open for seating at 6:30. Refreshments and candidate literature will be available in the foyer. This event is co-hosted by the St. John’s United Methodist Men’s organization.
