Annual Water Conservation Measures to Begin April 1st

Restrictions on Lubbock residents' watering plans for spring and summer are to be restricted again this year because of the ongoing drought.
LUBBOCK, TX -- Restrictions on Lubbock residents' lawn watering plans for spring and summer are to be restricted again this year because of the ongoing drought, according to the City of Lubbock's water department. Irrigation schedules are set for two days a week for Lubbockites, depending on address.

Addresses ending in 0, 3, 4 or 9 can irrigate Mondays and Thursdays, addresses ending in 1, 5 or 6 will be allowed to water on Tuesdays and Fridays, and addresses ending in 2, 7 or 8 can water on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

April 1st will also mark the beginning of annual water conservation measures, including watering allowances from midnight to 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to midnight on scheduled irrigation days.

Other measures include watering less than an inch and a half of water a week.

There are also restrictions on watering right after a rainfall, and property owners must not have too much runoff.

According to state climatologists, the upcoming year will be another hot and dry season, prompting the drought restrictions.
