LUBBOCK, TX -- Lubbock Fire Marshals on Monday released information about the arrest of Donovan H. Osby, 34, for first degree felony arson and “false statement to a peace officer.”  Lubbock Fire Rescue said in a written statement that Osby was arrested Friday.

“Osby suffered significant burns from last Tuesdays fire at 5027-27th street and is charged with setting that fire,” the written statement said.  “The suspect is a former roommate and friend of the owner. A significant amount of forensic evidence is yet to be processed and additional arrests are pending the results of that testing.”

Smoke from the fire at 27th Street and York Avenue could be seen for miles around.  Neighbors described an explosion before the fire.
