The junior guard led the Lady Raiders in points, rebounds and steals.
LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech junior guard Amber Battle was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team on Thursday, as announced by the Big 12 Conference office.
She is joined on the second team by Nikki Moody (Iowa State), Leticia Romero (Kansas State), Morgan Hook (Oklahoma), and Imani McGee-Stafford (Texas).
Battle (Albuquerque, N.M.) led the Lady Raiders in scoring this season with 16.2 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game and 1.1 steals per game. Battle ended the regular season as the sixth-best scorer and No. 8 in rebounding – the only guard in the Big 12 Conference to rank in the top 10 in each category.
She scored in double digits in 25 of 29 games and had 20 points or more in eight games. That is the highest points per game average by a Lady Raider since LaToya Davis averaged 18.9 points per game in 2005-06.
Battle started all 29 regular season games this season after starting only one game in her first two years at Tech. She totaled six double-doubles this season and became the first Lady Raider to score 30 points or more in a game in seven years when she scored 32 against Kansas State on Jan. 14.
Tech will be the No. 10 seed in the Big 12 Championship and will take on No. 7 TCU at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.
