The more things change, the more they stay the same. The Cooper Pirates have been a Playoff stalwart in 3A baseball during Coach Terry Baxter’s tenure in Woodrow.  They had not lost a district game in the last two years, but had to say goodbye to 15 seniors after last years state tournament run. This year, was a different story finishing 12-17 overall with a 7-3 district mark. But they still own a co-district championship with Shallowater…

After losing 15 seniors, they basically had a brand new team, and with that came some growing pains, particularly early in the season…

The change in style, though, was buoyed by returners from that tournament team, guys like Chase Freeman, Stanton Keane, Braden Hayward and Jordan Salas.

regardless, the expectations are always there for the Pirate baseball team.
