In 3A the Lubbock Cooper Pirates fought from behind, early to take a 10-4 series opening win against Andrews.
In the bottom of the first runner with a runner on 3rd, Stanton Keane ripped one to short, and the shortstop decided to throw home allowing Braden McCook to score as Cooper took the 1-0 lead.
In the top of the 2nd, Marc Garcia bounced one over the head of McCook allowing Gunner Rogers to score and tie the game at 1.
In the 3rd Andrews loaded the bases with no-outs, and Tanner Doucette got a ground ball, but they would only get as Andrews ties it at two. they would take the lead in the inning.
But cooper responded in the bottom of the inning as Mason Gilles poked one to right, to plate two more Pirates runs to take the 4-3 lead.
Cooper would not look back, as they take the game 10-4, and a 1-0 lead in the series as games two and three, if necessary, will be played on Saturday at Andrews.
