The Cowboys have had an interesting time out in California, filled with great plays on the field, questions about Tony Romo, intra-squad fights, inter-squad fights, suspensions, injuries, scandalous pictures, you name it and America’s team dealt with it this training camp.
But on the field Coach Garrett feels like his team has improved, particularly in this last, physical, week practicing with the Raiders.
“The last two days with the Raiders was great work,” Garrett said. “Our focus was exactly where it needed to be and I think we really benefitted from working against those guys. The intensity was fantastic and the concentration was really really good for those couple days of work with the Raiders.”
The Cowboys will open AT&T Stadium on Saturday against the Ravens and spent Thursday preparing to take on the birds.
“Now you have to say, ok guys this Thursday is an important day for us,” Garrett said, it'll be our Baltimore preparation."
We will see Tony Romo in the game against the Ravens and Coach Garrett likes how Romo is coming along but is not ready to put a label on how far he has progressed.
“I don't know that we look at it like okay we have this benchmark and this benchmark and this benchmark and on this day you should be doing this,” Garrett said. “I don't think that's how you handle an injury. We certainly felt like he was going to take a little bit of time to come back, like all players with injuries in the offseason.”
The Cowboys and Ravens will kick-off at 6pm on Saturday from AT&T Stadium in Arlington
