Dairy Queen Robbery; Suspect Beat Two Employees With Bat

A Lubbock man was taken to UMC early Saturday morning after a robbery suspect beat him several times with a bat while trying to rob a local Dairy Queen.

Police have released the names of the victims.

The man is 34 year old Jesse Rios and the woman is 43 year old Mary Cazarez.

The police reports states the suspect got away with about $450.

Police are looking for the man who robbed a local Dairy Queen and sent two of it's' employees to the hospital. 


They say it happened around 12:49 Saturday morning at the Dairy Queen on 6925 University.

The male employee was taking out trash when he was approached by a Hispanic male, around 5'8" and 140 lbs. 

Police say the suspect hit the man several times with a bat before going inside the restaurant. 

The suspect ordered the female employee to give him the money, and after she did police say the suspect hit her too. 

Both employees were taken to UMC.

The woman had moderate injuries and has been released.

The man was in critical condition.

Police say they do not know how much money the suspect got away with, but they are asking for help with this crime.
