LUBBOCK, TX –A week of near constant blowing dust has blanketed the city turning cars, streets and plants a lovely shade of brown. But people aren’t just dealing with the dirt outside; the mess is making its way into homes, including Teresa Kuehler’s.

She is fed up with the daily dose of dirt.  "We've been finding little piles of dirt and dust in the side of our door ways and windows," Kuehler said.  "I think you clean it and the next day were cleaning again."

Kuehler and dozens of others went to Suthlerands Home Improvement, Wednesday, shopping for products to keep the brown out.

Ralph Thomas, a Sutherlands associate, has been helping folks like Teresa pick the right products to windproof their home since the dust gusts started last week.

"We have people coming in here nonstop," said Thomas.  "They're trying to keep as much dirt outside as they can."

To keep the dirt from coming in through doors, Thomas recommends three adhesive wind stoppers that stick around the door frame.  He also said a foam draft buster that is placed underneath your door works well.  For windows, Thomas said plastic coverings found in any hardware store will keep your home free of dirt.

"The key is prevention," said Thomas.  "We can have a house full of dirt or I don't have to and if I prepare properly, then I'm in good shape."

To further dust-proof your home, Thomas recommends changing your air filter once a month, especially during this time of year.
