DPS Confirms One Fatality On Highway 84 Near Post

The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed at least one fatality following an accident on Highway 84, north of Post. <span style="color: #ff0000;">UPDATED</span> 2/02/14 6:45 pm

POST, TX-- Four people were struck by an 18 wheeler while trying to help a driver in a different accident. One person was killed and three others were injured, including a Garza County Sheriff’s Deputy.

The victims names have not yet been released. We are told the deputy is in satisfactory condition and the two others are in critical condition.

The accident happened Tuesday morning four miles north of Post. The deputy was responding to the scene of a box-truck that slid off Highway 84.

A written statement from DPS said, “A deputy and three bystanders went to assist the driver of the box truck. As they were assisting, another northbound 18 wheeler skidded into the center median and struck all of them.”
