LUBBOCK, TX -- Lubbock Fire Rescue asked for the public’s help Wednesday concerning the townhouse fire Tuesday afternoon in the 5000 block of 27th Street.

“The City of Lubbock Fire Marshal’s office is requesting anyone with any video, pictures, or information pertaining to the structure fire … to please contact either the Fire Marshal’s office at 775-2646, or Crime Line at 741-1000.”

LFR said the fire is under investigation as an arson, and witnesses on Tuesday said there was the sound of explosion before the fire.

“I don’t know what would cause an explosion,” said Gabriel Heintz who lived in the townhouse before the fire. “I have a propane tank in the back – a couple bug sprays and stuff like that – stuff that everybody has in their house.”

Heintz said he was not home at the time and rushed home when he received a phone call telling him his home was on fire.
