Fundraiser for Jason Cook
A Lubbock First Responder injured while off duty is getting some help from his co-workers...
About two weeks ago EMS Medic Jason Cook was with his family on the way to Levelland, when he stopped at a wreck on Highway 114.
Even though Cook was not on duty at the time, he stopped to help.
Cook was clipped by another vehicle...and was thrown thirty to forty feet.
He is out with a broken leg and hip among other injuries.
Because Cook wasn't on duty at the time of the accident his injuries are not covered as a work related injury.
Now...his EMS co-workers are helping him out...
Chad Curry who is the Senior Field Training officer with EMS told us "we're gonna do this to help out Jason until he's able to come back to work...he's very very compassionate and this gives us an opportunity to take care of our own family at this time..."
The fundraiser is going to be held on Saturday May 4th from 11AM til 1PM at two locations...UMC Emergency Room and Covenant Emergency Room. You can donate $5 and get a brisket or sausage wrap along with chips and a drink.
All of the funds raised at the two locations will go to help out Jason until he can get back on his feet.
