LUBBOCK, TX -- The Garza County Sheriff’s Department said a man is recovering after being shot Friday night. Sheriff Terry Morgan said Melvin Wynne Jr., 26, was shot once in the leg and once in the hip. The injuries were not thought to be life-threatening. Morgan did not yet release the name of the suspect because charges had not been filed; however, Morgan thought charges might be filed before the end of Tuesday.
According to Wynne’s family, he and family members were at a bar in Post when another man became angry with the bartender. The other man overturned tables and caused a scene. Wynne told the other man to be more careful around his wife.
That led to a another confrontation later at a location away from the bar. The family described a fistfight. Morgan did not confirm the fistfight but did say the other man pulled a gun and shot Wynne.
