Gibson Formally Announces Bid for Re-Election

“I think the first thing we need to see is unity. I know that’s been difficult over the last couple of years,” Karen Gibson said.
LUBBOCK, TX - Incumbent City Councilwoman Karen Gibson formally announced her re-election campaign Tuesday morning.

“I love serving people,” Gibson said. “I love serving Lubbock.”

Gibson was first elected to the District 5 seat in 2010 when John Leonard chose not to run for re-election. Gibson said fixing roads, and building a new police station are top priorities.

“I think the first thing we need to see is unity. I know that’s been difficult over the last couple of years,” Gibson said.

“It’s a passion. It is absolutely a passion.”

Dr. Brian Carr is considering a possible challenge to Gibson. No one else has, as of Tuesday, taken out a candidate packet to run in District 5.
