Hail Storm Almost Destroys Several Residents' Homes In South Lubbock County

Windows were blown out and homes almost destroyed after last night's storm caused serious damage throughout South Lubbock.
KLBK's Melissa Mahadeo was in south Lubbock County on County Road 2130 today to see the damage for herself.
It lasted just 15 minutes, but Andra and Rosser Ford will never forget last night's storm.

"Really really hard knocks and it was the hail coming through the wall," Andra Ford said. "That is a little bit scary, when you look up and you have got your wall with something coming in on you."

Golf ball size hail pelted through their walls, their roof, their walkway and in to their cars.

"It makes you a little bit angry because you work so hard to get to this point and then nature does this to you," Andra said.

It happened just two months after the Ford's finishing paying their last car payment off and just one month before Andra intended on retiring.

"It got them both pretty good. I'm sure they're both totaled out," Rosser Ford said.

Across the street there was a similar scene of broken windows and totaled cars.

"It's kinda like getting punched in the guy. You don't know where to start, you don't know what to do," resident Linda Whitman said.

But for Andra and Rosser, a couple for nearly 50 years, they said "everything is replaceable." Everything but each other.

"I thought this may be our time but at least we would go together," Andra told us she thought during last night's storm.
