How to Spot Heat Stroke in Kids

How can you tell if your kids are at risk of heat stroke? Covenant pediatrician Dr. David Gray gives parents the information they need to know.
Dr. David Gray's tips to spotting heat stroke in children:

-- The first sign is cramps, or pain.

-- The next sign that heat stroke is occurring is a change in skin color (usually more red).  Also, the body will become less sweaty than you'd expect.  Get out of the sun, rest and rehydrate immediately.

-- The most telling sign that there is something dangerously wrong is if your child begins showing mental changes.  Changes in mood, or behavior, or even confusion.  If this happens, you need to get to a hospital immediately.
