LUBBOCK, TX -- To introduce more people to the Jefferson Awards, KAMC featured the 2013 winner, Eric Strong. Strong has been involved in many projects such as helping people tear down dilapidated houses, facilitating the creation of a gateway entrance in East Lubbock, Directing the Roots Historical Arts Council, and contributing to the development of the Caviel African American Museum.
“People can become proud of culture. And everybody has a story to tell,” Strong said. “My willingness to become a worker for other people for free became a part of me.”
Strong also said, “I believe than when we get blessed with certain things in our lives it’s for one reason; so we can be a blessing to others.”
Established in 1972, the Jefferson Awards honor individuals for their contributions to community service.
