Johnson spent much of the offseason making it known that he wants to play for a contender after the Texans have made the playoffs just twice in his career with Houston.
The Texans would incur a substantial cap hit, if they had cut Johnson, and refused to trade him, but Johnson, who received a standing ovation in a team meeting on Friday Morning seems excited to be in camp with the Texans.
“The whole atmosphere of just being here the past few hours is totally different than in the past,” Johnson said. “The guys are excited the atmosphere is probably more upbeat than it's ever been.”
The Texans will hit the practice field for the first time tomorrow and will play their first preseason game on August 9th against the Arizona Cardinals.
