LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech returns to United Spirit Arena on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. tip against No. 4 Baylor for the second meeting between the two teams this season.
Tech (6-17, 0-12 Big 12) looks to bounce back from a close contest on Saturday on the road against TCU, falling 72-57.
Senior center Shauntal Nobles led the way with 12 points while junior guard Amber Battle scored 10 points and eight rebounds. Freshmen Ivonne CookTaylor and Diamond Lockhart provided the spark off the bench, scoring eight points each.
Battle is fourth in the Big 12 Conference in points per game with 17.9, and is averaging more per game through 23 games than any other Lady Raider in the last eight years. She has scored in double figures in 21 games and is averaging 20 points per game in her last six contests after collecting her fifth double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds vs. Kansas on Feb. 1.
Baylor (20-3, 10-3) comes in on a five-game winning streak since losing its first Big 12 Conference game in two years on Jan. 19.
Odyssey Sims continues to lead the Big 12 Conference and nation in scoring after her 33 points on Sunday vs. OSU extended her streak of double-digit scoring to 34 games. Sims was last held to single-digits vs. UCONN, Feb. 18, 2013, when she had nine. She tallied the 39th career game with at least 20 points and the 11th with 30 or more.
