Story of the Lubbock native who became Texas Tech's first national champion in track.
Lubbock native Leigh Daniel went to Texas Tech with one year of experience on the track but left as the school's most decorated runner.
Daniel won the school's first track NCAA title in the 5,000 meters at the 1999 Indoor Championships and added another a few months later in the 10,000 meters at the 1999 Outdoor Championships.
Daniel's second title came despite having to stop during the race to tie her shoe.
The Monterey product is this week's McGavock Nissan Legend of the Game.
