At the event Lubbock youth were able to register to participate in Lemonade Day on May 3. Each child that registered received a backpack with an entrepreneurs workbook. The books contained information including how to create a product, work hard, and own and operate a business, according to a press release.
A representative from the Mayor's office also issued a City Proclamation recognizing Lemonade Day's encouragement of Lubbock's youth to start their own businesses.
During Lemonade Day hundreds of children set up their own lemonade stand during a single day. According to a press release the children keep all of the money they earn and are encouraged to spend, save, and share with charities.
This year's goal for the event is to register 4,000 children, which will partner up, and start over 800 new businesses in Lubbock, according to the statement.
