LUBBOCK, TX- $500,000 is a lot of money.

Especially if you are a school district on a budget.

Lubbock Independent School District implemented a new program beginning last January that would cut their energy costs.

This year it saved them more than $474,000.

The school hired Cenergistic to send energy experts into the school and detail the areas that needed work.

Their program depends on changing human behavior, not equipment.

Their plan is to have teachers and students turn off lights when they are not in a room, and un-plug appliances when they are not in use.
