LUBBOCK, TX--- Small busineses expand for many different reasons but owner of "Tom and Bingo's BBQ" says he just wants people to enjoy their BBQ more.
Many people, especially around Lubbock, recognize the name "Tom and Bingo's BBQ." The business opened in November of 1952.
For more than 62 years the small shop has been serving BBQ to Lubbock, with a side of their special sauce.
"I've been making this sauce since i was probably 10 years old," says owner Dwayne Clanton, who took over the business after his father.
"Its good on chicken its good on beef its good on pork so we're just going to roll with this one and see what happens," he says.
Clanton says its his loyal costumers that made him want to share his sauce, to grow the small time business, into a house name.
"The reason to expand it is I just want people to enjoy it. And to pass this great flavor on to as many people as I can."
After finding a co-packer and selling in their shop, "Tom and Bingo's BBQ Sauce" is appearing locally and will soon show up in stores across the nation.
They will see how their first sauce sells for a while and look to expand even more in the near future.
"Hopefully when they see it over there they'll come and try our bbq and eat with us," says Clanton.
"Tom and Bingo's BBQ Sauce" is now being sold in most United Supermarkets as well as "Tom and Bingo's BBQ" on 34th Street.
